Maplelea Monday- Spotlight on Brianne

Brianne is one of my most favorite dolls, I have had her in my collection and simply love her, however I think her collection items are some of my least favorite Maplelea Offers.
However her Prima Ballerina Ballet outfit is exquisite and as with all the Maplelea Products is extreamly well made.
Here Sun Day outfit is cute and age appropriate if not on the younger side but I do like the colors and the styles they have chose for this doll.
Her pet rabbits and horse are also wonderful additions to Brianne's line.

I love Brianne's soft features and she has been used in many of my doll posts here, on my main blog and on Doll Diaries
I hope you enjoyed today's post. As with all my posts I would love to hear from you so please leave me a comment here or email me at karenmowen@gmail.com

American Doll Rooms- The best doll play accessory!

If you are reading this post and are familiar with my posts here, my main doll blog, and my writing on Doll Diaries then you have seen first hand how much I love and use my American Doll Room all the time.

There are so many reasons I love my American Doll Room and why I recommend it for any doll lover. The first reason American Doll Rooms are the best doll play accessory is that like the above photo indicates, they "flip, play, fold, carry" and store flat! Easy and fast clean up, you will not regret this purchase as when not in play it stores in it's own special bag and can slide behind a couch, under a bed or be placed in an easy to access cupboard. I say easy to access because your doll lover is going to want to play with this set all the time.
The second reason I love this set is the American Doll Room offers an indoor and outdoor option on all it's rooms. You can set it up as indoor play, bedroom, living room, bathroom, store, etc and outside use it to enjoy all the doll back yard has to offer. Just look at some of the posts I have used it in on Doll Diaries
Bathroom
Patio Parties
Living room and bedroom
I have used it for so many posts and doll play dates this room is well played with and in great shape after being used almost every day for the last 9 months.
It works with American Girl Doll furniture as well as hand made and Etsy furniture, any doll play items you may have already on hand.
I love this commercial done by A Bee Line's Etsy shop, using the American Doll Room
and I am thrilled to share with you this sneak peek at the new Historical Doll Room American Girl Doll Room is going to be releasing in September!
I am so excited for the release of the new American Doll Room's and I know these are going to be so popular! TIP ****These rooms make excellent gifts for the up coming holiday gift giving season! Order early to avoid disappointment!***

Maplelea Monday-Spotlight on Alexi

Today's Maplelea Monday is all about Alexi, she has by far the coolest outfits and accessories,
Her City Chic Pack stands out to me because of the messenger bag. This set at $20 is a great deal and the faux fur trim is very cute as well.
I think the Market Magic outfit makes my case! Age appropriate ( though I would add tights) and fun colors make this outfit desirable.
Her High Stepping Boots are sold out and you can see why, look at the stitching detail on these boots, offered at $11, these are on my next order for sure, I can not wait for them to come back into stock!
Canadian Doll Winters never looked so good with Alexi and her Copper Coat, snow pants included for $34!

I am a huge American Girl doll fan but I have to tell you that the quality in the Maplelea Outfits has me wanting to keep my hard earned money in Canada when it comes to doll clothing and couture.
I have seen first hand the difference quality makes and as a Mom and adult doll lover these outfits are an investment and made to heirloom quality.
Her cat Chapta comes with this cozy cat house and at $20 is a great deal. I love the cat so much and it is by far my favorite Maplelea Animal.

Alexi is a truly wonderful character and her items and accessories work on all the Maplelea Dolls, Maplelea Clothing also fits most 18 inch dolls.

Dolly and Stuffed Animal Band-Aid's

If you know a child who loves to put band-aids on on themselves and their dolls and stuffed animals then today's craft is one you may want to try.
I mail envelopes to my three nieces who live in Montreal weekly. I try to send them fun flat items like stickers, juice crystals and fun band-aids in their letters for them to enjoy. My one niece Cadence, loves the Disney show Doc. McStuffins and uses her band-aids on all her toys, which can be very messy.
My sister Bre found this great blog Pink and Green Mama that showed how to make felt band-aids and asked me if I could make the girls some.  So I started out making each girl 10 real sized band-aids they could use for their dolls.
I used two colors of felt for each band-aid and I used two pieces of cut up rough side Velcro. This way the band aid will wrap around it's self to stay on or can be laid across a stuffed animal and still stay on.
When I made each girl 10 I placed them in a snack sized zip lock bag and made a label with them for each of my "Dr. Nieces"
I then covered the labels with clear packing tape and mailed them to my nieces, who should get them by next Wednesday. These band-aids also will go around a child's finger for fun play.

Did you know that the Journey Girl Hospital set is one of my most favorites? My sister bought it for me when I was in New York and it is one of the most played with sets, I love how my doll Saila sits perfectly in it! (thanks to Lauren for pointing this out!)
The wheelchair is plastic and light weight but the most played with item. I love the casts and the crutches as well. If you are looking for a great doll play set this one has everything you need for dolly recovery and everyday use. We found mine at Toys R Us you can too it is $39.99 on line at Toys R US in Canada and a great buy. Click here for the link on Toys R US's Website.

Hair brush comparison

Not all hair brushes are created equal for our dolls this much is true. If you have an Maplelea Doll or an American Girl Doll you know that our dolls wigs are in need of special care.
The Maplelea brush shown above is a great wire brush for dolls offered at $6.00.
The American Girl Doll Wire brush is offered at $7  and though it is not as wide I love the job it does on the dolls hair. NOW I have had 4 of these brushes and they have all fallen apart in use, so I keep buying them and hope that they will improve but think my next purchase will be the Maplelea Brush.

Though our friends over at Springfield dolls do not have a doll brush for sale it is very important to note that these wonderful dolls DO NOT REQUIRE a wire brush, in fact they should never have a wire brush on their hair as it will split the hair. Use a brush with plastic covered bristles for best results.

***IMPORTANT IF YOU ARE GOING TO BRUSH YOUR DOLLS HAIR I HIGHLY RECOMMEND A SPRAY BOTTLE WITH WATER TO HELP THE STRANDS OF YOUR DOLLS HAIR STAY TOGETHER. BRUSHING CAN SPLIT THE HAIRS ON YOUR DOLLS HEAD AND THE WATER WILL HELP. CAREFUL NOT TO MIST THE EYE AREA AND START AT THE BOTTOM OF YOUR DOLLS HAIR COMBING IT FROM THE BOTTOM IN SECTIONS TO THE TOP TO PREVENT TANGLING.****

I get my spray bottles at the dollar store and they are wonderful for quick styles to complicated styles. They also make great party gifts and stocking stuffers...
